First attempt to do a 1/2 Marathon

I decided last night I’d try a longer distance, maybe a 1/2 marathon to see if I’m ready for the marathon.
I started running on a thread mill 45 days ago, then started doing boxing, and then I went to run with a group of people in the beach.
Now I just want to run and run more, I’ve lost 10 pounds, and I want to loose 20 pounds more. Last week I decided I was going to run the miami marathon which is about 180 days away, and I can already do 1/2 marathon in 2 hours 4 minutes and 29 seconds, that’s 13 miles in less than 130 minutes, so I’m averaging 9.54 minutes (9m:32s) per mile already.
So now I know it’s not a question of "Can I do it", but a question of "How fast can I do it". If I keep my current average speed I’ll be doing the marathon in 248 minutes, that’s 4.13 hours or 4 hours and 8 minutes. My goal is to do it at least in 3 hours 45 minutes, I think it’s doable for my first time, I have plenty of time to train and I’m very motivated, so wish me luck.

Great plan.
Don’t mess up your knees like I did! You can protect yourself by buying good running shoes and replacing them often. Be careful running downhill or on pavement, and don’t ignore joint pain.

Got two pairs of shoes now, after I got the first good pair I knew I could start running, no more shin splints. For my knees I have stabilizers just in case, but I’ve no pain whatsoever at this point.
Not many hills out here, however I do run a lot on pavement, I suppose the shoes will help, also the weight loss
wow.. Nice project. When you start to running you never will end, is like a drug… Remember Forest Gump…
Next October I will be in NYC, we can to meet if you want to running a few miles.
Good luck and hugs to your family
you’re right javika, I was talking today about all the running I’ve done the past days and when I hear myself, I sound like an addict.
I keep up waking early just to run, this morning I ran 6 miles, then in the afternoon I couldn’t wait to go to a 3 mile race.
October sounds like a plan, if I’m in town when you’re there we should get together and do it.
Hugs back my friend.
